Leigh Hodgkinson - Illustrator and writer

Leigh Hodgkinson writes and illustrates books for children and has worked with publishers Orchard, Nosy Crow, Bloomsbury and Simon & Shauster. Her picture books include Colin and the Snoozebox, Limelight Larry and Scrummy! Goldilocks and Just the One Bear, Troll Swap and The Big Monster Snoreybook.

 

She did a degree in Graphic design (specialising in animation and illustrations) at the University of Humberside and then went on to study Animation Direction at the National Film and Television School. Before Leigh started to make picture books, she worked in the animation industry as a director/deisgner/animator on a diverse range from her own short films (Moo(n), Stalk, Flighty) and tv animated sketches (Monkey Dust, Fonejacker) to tv series (Cbeebies "Charlie and Lola").

 

Leigh recently co-created and art directed the new Cbeebies show Olobob Top (www.olobobtop.com). She lives and works in Lewes with her husband, animation director Steve Smith (of Beakus www.beakus.com), and their two young children.
